Cinderella’s Coach

Wood, approximately 8' x 8'

The Catholic High School of Baltimore was staging “Cinderella” and needed a coach and horse.  Fortunately for me, they were only interested in plywood flats.  The coach was designed to be reminiscent of a pumpkin and had a rolling seat attached to the upstage side for Cinderella.  This seat also helped the coach be free-standing.  The horse was also a plywood flat mounted on a rolling support painted flat black.  During the performance, actors dressed as royal attendants moved the carriage and a member of the crew dressed in black (my daughter) moved the horse virtually unseen.  At the next open house, TCHS used the coach and horse as decoration for the theatre department with the clever sign stating “You don’t need a fairy godmother to find magic at Catholic High.”
