Sarcophagus

Foam and wood, approximately 6.5' tall x 2' wide x 30" deep

This sarcophagus was built for The Catholic High School of Baltimore‘s Fall 2017 performance of “The Man Who Came To Dinner.”  They had a large, heavy, Boot Hill-style toe-pincher coffin they were going to use, but the show explicitly calls for a sarcophagus.  The lid was painted by a student and is hinged to the back and naturally stayed closed.  We mounted the whole thing on a small rolling platform for use in the show and it worked out great.  I even cut a small shelf to size so it could be used as a decorative “closet” in the theater classroom.
