Fireplace

Foam and wood, approximately 5' tall x 5' wide x 18" deep

This fireplace was made for The Catholic High School of Baltimore‘s 2016 production of “A Christmas Carol.”  Since the show has scenes in both Scrooge’s and the Cratchit’s houses, I figured it would be more useful if one side was more formal and the other was more rustic.  The formal side was a simple, stark white with formal trim while the rustic side was primarily cobblestones.  Fortunately, I found a great looking rustic fireplace for inspiration.  As a neutral transition for the sides, my daughter and I painted bricks of various colors.  The whole thing was on wheels to help the stage crew move it during the show.  This fireplace has appeared in at least two other shows at Catholic High since “A Christmas Carol” and will probably continue to make appearances for many years to come.
